Physical Therapy Services at Bloom
During the evaluation we will spend time learning about your child and your concerns, complete a hands on assessment, develop a treatment plan, and provide activities/exercises you can start with your child right away!
At each treatment session we will perform individualized interventions, progress your home exercises, and update the treatment plan as your child progresses towards their goals! Sessions are always one-on-one with the physical therapist.
Some of the interventions that might be included in your treatment plan include:
Perception Action Approach (A gentle handling technique that supports the development of new motor plans based on introduction of novel sensory information. This allows the child to learn how to move in new ways in order to build new skills! The child leads the play which means sessions are positive and fun, while still offering the right amount of challenge to make progress)
Manual treatment techniques (stretching, massage, etc.)
Targeted exercises for strength, balance, and/or coordination
KinesioTaping
Caregiver education for home exercise/activities

What is Pediatric Physical Therapy?
Pediatric physical therapy uses interventions based on principles of motor learning in conjunction with play to improve the function and daily lives of babies and children. For young infants this might include working on skills such as holding their head in midline or bringing a hand to their mouth. For older infants and children we can help develop and improve their physical abilities, such as crawling, walking, running, jumping, postural control, and maintaining balance.
Pediatric Physical Therapists have specialized education and experience working with children. Children are not “mini adults” and are most successful with treatment that is tailored to their unique needs.
Benefits of Physical Therapy for Kids
Physical therapy offers numerous benefits for babies and children, including improved head shape, range of motion, strength, balance, coordination, independence, and confidence. It can also help children recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, and enhance their overall quality of life. Schedule a free discovery call or evaluation with us to learn more about how physical therapy could benefit your child!
